Win over Whitby

Obviously we had been on a good run of form and again against Whitby it was another assured performance. It can be difficult against a team who have lost seven in a row You're always under pressure against the bottom three, especially as we were going so well. We had to be patient. They stuck at it and made things difficult for us. We were never safe until we got the second goal and it was a great goal by Sean Kinsella on his debut. He's shown what he will bring to the team.

So I'm really pleased with that performance and we kept a clean sheet again. Whitby have gone on since and got a point at Chorley. So although they were bottom of the league it was never going to be easy.

Defeat against Chorley

We won five on the spin before the game and we knew what a big game it was. But sometimes you have to give credit to the opposition and they came and closed us down and didn't give us any time to play. We learnt a lot from that game. You will never get a season where you win every game and every performance is perfect. You have to learn from your defeats as well as your wins. We learnt alot about ourselves in that game. We watched the game back and they scored an important goal in the game, but we had as many chances as them, as much possession as them so we weren't far out of the game. We could easily have got something out of the game, but we didn't.

Then it's all about bouncing back from that. You'll always get people who start doubting but we've only lost three games all season and we're in December now. It's all about how you respond to the defeats and we responded really well.

Ilkeston in the Trophy

Against Ilkeston we were excellent. Again, you don't realise until you watch it back, but totally dominated the game. But I did see a lot of things we could improve on and the lads took that onboard for the replay. It was a really good performance to go to Ilkeston who are top of their league, and beat them. We actually went more defensive at Ilkeston. We brought in a midfielder and left a forward player out. But sometimes football is like that. It was a great performance and we fully deserved to get an opportunity to play against the best team in non-league football in Fleetwood.

But the important thing with the Trophy is the finance. Now that we've got to the 1st round there are only three Evo-Stik teams left in the competition. So it's a good achievement for us.

On Stocksbridge

This is just the first of four or five big home games before Christmas, and Stocksbridge will be as tough as Fleetwood and Chester. They are the form team in the league at the minute. They beat Hednesford 4-0 and Hednesford had won every game before and after that. so that will be a real tough game for us. But hopefully we can start a run of tough games with a win over Stocksbridge, and get the three points which will keep us near the top of the league.
