FRIENDLY - Congleton Town 1 Northwich Victoria 0

Andy Mutch's men were left beaten by a strong and fluent Congleton Town.  Rookie goalkeeper Craig Vernon could do little else to keep out the low strike to give the Bears victory on this wet Saturday afternoon.

Congleton

Craig Vernon had been the Vics hero during the first period, producing a string of spectacular saves. It was all square at the break,  Trickies chances came from Ross Farran, who poked wide after some dazzling runs from Lee Dodgson.

Dodgson continued to try and probe an opening,  but he was foiled by former Tricky custodian Matthew Conkie.

Left back Grant Niblett created a chance for the men in Yellow, when he slipped in a well timed throughball to Koubemba, he turned his man and sent a curling shot, narrowly over the right post.

It was Congleton, who scored. when a low thredded shot nestled in the bottom corner past Vernon.

Sub Luby saw his left footed shot smothered, before Izzy Mbire's shot was caught under the post after a Dodgson cut back.

Middleton went close before the final whislte, when the keeper got a finger tip to his effort, rebounding the effort off the post.
