FRIENDLY - Winsford United 2 - 3 Northwich Victoria

Andy Mutch's side picked up their first pre season victory last night, when they visited neighbours Winsford United at their Barton Stadium.

Northwich played some fluent, passing football, causing their hosts plenty problems. As a Chris Luby double secured the win.

The scoring was opened in bizarre fashion, when Winsford United midfielder McKay, was pressured at around 40metres from goal, by Mooney.  This resulted in a lofted backpass played back towards keeper Jones,  the custodian stood as we watched the ball sail over him and give the trickies the lead.

It wasn't long after the first goal, when Northwich extended their lead. Chris Luby scoring his first goal of the evening, and opening his account for Vics. being played in by the impressive Mooney. Luby clipped the ball past the keeper.

Joe Guest playing at left back caused United no end of trouble.  But after he was judged to have handled the ball, this gave the Blues a penalty.  Egan slotted the ball past Goalkeeper Craig Vernon.  The score was now a 2-1.

Northwich were next to score, Luby now making his goal a brace, when he was sent through on goal by Inderjeet,  he rounded the keeper and clipped into an empty net.

After the break, Winsford looked more lively, as Trickies, changed their frontline, due to knocks to Luby and Niblett.  Seeing Middleton and ex premier League star Christopher Samba's brother, Odilon Koubemba introduced to the fold.

However United added to the scoreline, when another brother of a premier league player, Wayne Welbeck, netted.  Making it 3-2
